Who rescues a Goddess when the whole world stands in their way? Bruised and bloodied after a desperate shuttle escape, Cha Dzeeny leads his battered companions into the hall of the diin. But the Prophet may have been here before and what waits inside makes their rescue mission seem hopeless.

Their orders were to keep the Prophet safe. She chooses danger. As the ground buckles and alien vines tear through the colony, Cha suspects the missing Goddess is fighting a coup. Baaii wants to protect Vriishany; Cha needs answers. But the Prophet insists they go together—to the diin, where faith and curiosity may lead them straight into a trap.

“Who do we shoot, boss?” The plaza rolled like a green ocean, vines rising from its crests to hunt the colonists. Baaii and the Prophet were trapped between a chasm and a thrashing stem. Cha had one weapon that might save them. Then alien warriors appeared across the plaza and Terg raised his beam against his own kind.
